Meet KurtisThe dream I've always had is to have cars cool enough to share. To share the experience: the looks, the acceleration and the evocative sounds! The Golf allows me to live a slight version of this dream on a daily basis. It may not have the evocative sound or the looks that turn heads (aside from other enthusiasts) but hitting 62 mph in practically sub 5 seconds is always an experience. (Launch control is gimmicky but always appreciated). When I was without the Golf for a few weeks I was getting rides with friends to and from work and walking / riding my bike everywhere else.
5 days out of the week, there is usually a gentleman walking with a walker and waving at every single car that drives by. I had noticed him for the 3 years I've been living at my apartment. I'd always wave back but I didn't know him. I would bet 99% of the cars driving by recognized him and 100% waved back. On June 1st my friend gave me a ride to retrieve some belongings from the totaled Golf and then dropped my off at the grocery store. On the way to the store I saw the gentleman walking and it planted a seed. I thanked my friend for the ride and elected to walk back. It was a nice day to go for a walk and the 2 miles wouldn't kill me. On the walk back I caught up to the man walking, waving to every car that passed by. I trailed him by about 20 yards and watched them all wave back and smile as he waved on. Without fail, every single car driving back post waving to and forth had a genuine smile on the driver's face. |
