Bought it twice(?)

I took a bit of a hiatus from adding content to his website for one big reason; The Golf R was involved in a bit of an accident that very much so took the wind out of my sales. In the process of losing and replacing the Golf I did a lot and learned a lot, but the following is the story of getting the R again.

Using the Maserati as my daily is a feasible thought but was not an option for me. I had to get another daily. At this point the thought process was I put 4555 miles on the Golf over the course of the 2 months I had it, so we can agree that was a thorough test drive. With that said, do I want to invest the money to get the same car again or do I take this as an opportunity to get a different car? If we go back to the "Picking up the Golf R" article, the reasons I purchased the Golf are clear. I loved (love) that car and didn't want to live without it. In my head, getting anything else was settling. The Golf R was exactly what I wanted, and the options my car had were what I wanted.

The car was close to but not exactly a total loss however I discussed the options I had with the insurance company (whom I am blessed to be insured by State Farm) and we determined the best option moving forward is to total the car. Thus, I started the process to get a new car and let me say, holy f***ing s**t is that tougher than I thought. The Golf R is not a rarified supercar however it's not exactly common. The challenge was looking for a new 2016 black on black Golf R with a DSG transmission but no DCC & Nav option (I never found those options appealing). I started my search online and over the phone. Calling dealerships across the united states. It was unbelievable how often I called a dealership with a VIN of a car supposedly on their lot only to find out it's been sold and the site hasn't been updated. Cut to the chase: Focusing on "major" cities in the US (for ease of travel) I was able to find 8 cars that matched mine. California, Texas, Colorado, Michigan and Ohio.

Ohio made the most sense because the Ault Park Car Show I volunteer at was coming up and my sister lived nearby, decision made. I called the dealership, negotiated the price, put a downpayment to hold the car for 2 weeks and packed my bags. I got to VW Streetsboro and it was a quick in & out. Singed the paper work, handed them a check and drove to my sisters for lunch then headed to Cincinnati for the 2016 Ault Park Concours d'Elegance (the theme was Ferrari!!).

Did I make the right choice? YES, yes I did. I've had the Golf R (2.0) for just over 5 months and I've put 14,400 miles on the car. I can't stop driving it! I loved this car when I first bought it and I love it now. So yes, the ongoing joke amongst my friends is the I love the R so much I bought it twice. Winter in Green Bay is coming and I'm looking forward to snowy drives!

I LOVE MY GOLF R!
